Check out juice machines for your health and eating enjoyment at home! A juice and smoothie café just opened down the street, and I go down there about twice a week and order a shot of wheatgrass and the kitchen sink, with extra ginger. It has all kinds of goodies in it: apple, celery, carrot, lemon, spinach, pear and jazzy ginger. After I down it I’m literally stuffed! Funny how real food really fills you up! The only problem for me is the cafe's hours, which are a little too limited for me. So now I’m gearing up to shop in earnest for real juice machines that can partner with me in the kitchen in my quest for delicious and nutritious juices.
Although I will still treat myself to an occasional juice on the go from the café, I really want to start juicing at home as well. My three year old son loves every juice we’ve every gotten at the café, so I’m pretty confident that it will be well worth the money. He also loves their green smoothies, loaded up with fresh, mild baby spinach and berries in an almond milk base. With this as an option, there is no reason for us to ever go to a fast food restaurant. I worked at the deli in a natural foods store and got pretty spoiled using their industrial juice machines to juice absolutely everything and anything. These machines could take anything and everything you could throw at them and it was also possible to make larger quantities of juice to store for 24 hours or so in the fridge. Not only was this juice delicious and wholesome, but also they often were amazingly gorgeous just to look at! I liked to throw in raw beets, which have amazing liver cleansing properties and turned the concoction into a beautiful ruby red color. Oh, and the beet leaves can be juiced as well, or, sautéed in a little garlic and toasted sesame seed oil. Yum! The other nice thing about juice machines is how they are so handy for tossing in old produce that would otherwise go bad. I always have a few stragglers that aren’t worth the trouble of cooking: A handful of carrots, some not-so-great looking apples and limp greens. Nothing could be easier then juicing them up and being done with them. Voila! Now that's what I call fast food!
